Why Seek Therapy?

Many of us face issues at some point in our lives that our friends and family can simply not lend advice to. During those times, it may be helpful to seek assistance from a licensed therapist in order to better understand, address, and to learn coping skills for the future.

Making the decision to seek therapy is the first step to making a change.

It is not easy finding a therapist who understands ADHD children or adults who are ADHD.  Sometimes it just takes one to know one. That just might be why I have been so successful in helping families with ADHD children and adults with ADHD.

There is help without medication, but if your child is already on medication and not improving enough then maybe it is time to get help from someone who is ADHD, someone who gets it and can help.  Individual therapy alone just does not work but family therapy teaches the parents how to help their child; to work with their child and biological feedback teaches the person how to self-control the brain & their behavior.

A Little About Me:

Since 1983, I have been providing professional services for individuals, couples, and families as they navigate issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, domestic violence and abuse, addiction, and behavioral disorders caused by Autism and Asperger's.  Every person's journey is their own, and differs from the next, which is why I strive to offer the highest quality and intensely personal service available for every person whether they are an adult, teen, or child.

Before obtaining my M.S. in Counseling from Southwest Missouri State University, I was enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in areas such as Guam, Okinawa, and Alaska, to name a few.  After serving, I obtained elementary education degree and taught children, received my B.S. of psychology and worked as an assistant college professor, and have worked as a laboror, manager, and supervisor of industrial training in Pennsylvania.  All of my experience has made me into the person and counselor that I am today, better able to serve those that need my help...including both military and civilian individuals and families.

As an adult living with some of the very issues I assist others with, I know what it's like to feel confused and frustrated, and understand it takes support and understanding from everyone.  I have specialized in ADHD after discovering that I, myself, have ADHD, and I utilize family training and self-control skills so that every client gets the most effective treatment, and always ensure a non-judgmental, confidential, and solution focused therapy.

You will never need to worry about referrals with me, if you believe you need help or just have questions, please call! If I do not answer, I may be in session, so please leave a message and I will call you back personally as soon as I am able.
